Will of William Fitton 1782 – 1848
In the name of God Amen. I William Fitton of Shelley Woodhouse in the Township of Shelley in the Parish of Kirkburton
and in the West Riding of the County of York Farmer being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding Do this
fourteenth of June one thousand eight hundred and forty eight make publish and declare this to be my last Will and
Testament in manner and form following that is to say first my will and mind
is that all my just Debts and Funeral Expenses and the charges of the probate of this my will be fully paid and satisfied
out of personal Estate and Effects (the mortgage excepted) by my herein after named executors. I give devise and bequeath
unto my dear wife Hannah Fitton all those two cottage houses situate lying and being at Kirkburton and now in the
possession of Joseph Kaye and John Armitage as tenants also those two cottage houses and crofts situate at Heymoor House
Common and now in the occupation of Walter Prestwich, my son Robert Fitton and myself all situate in the township of Shepley
and parish of Kirkburton aforesaid Also all live and dead stock implements of husbandry and whatever else may be in my
possession at the time of my decease I give unto her for and during the term of her natural life. And at her decease
I wish the whole of my household furniture to be equally and amicably divided amongst the whole of my sons and daughters
share and share alike. Also at the decease of my said wife I wish my son John to have the farm and I give him all the
cattle crops and implements of husbandry and value therein without any payment for the same. Also at the decease of my
said wife I give devise and bequeath the whole of my Estate situate at Heymoor House Common in the township of Shepley
and parish of Kirkburton aforesaid also all those two cottages situate in Kirkburton aforesaid as before specified
unto my sons John Fitton and Robert Fitton and my daughters Sarah Fitton and Mary Fitton To them and their respective
heirs executors administrators and assigns forever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants. And I hereby
nominate constitute and appoint my two sons John and Robert Fitton joint executors of this my last Will and Testament
hereby nulling and making void all former will or wills by me at any time heretofore made and I do declare this only
to be my last Will and Testament in Witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year herein before
expressed.

Declaration of Probate
I do hereby certify that on the nineteenth day of December in the year of our Lord 1848 John Fitton of Shelley Woodhouse
in the township of Shelley in the parish of Kirkburton in the County of York Fancy manufacturer the son one of the
exevutors named in this the last Will and Testament of William Fitton late of Shelley Woodhouse aforesaid in the diocese
of York Farmer deceased was sworn well and truly to execute and perform the same and that the whole of the goods chattels
and credits of the said deceased within the diocese of York do not amount in value to the sum of one hundred pounds.
